Fiona - I find it even more amazing that it came from a company we consider one of the icons of American society! And yes, it does seem like something that should be beyond current memory, doesn't it?

It's crazy that it hasn't really been to long since this occured.
How can one sex be more creative than the other?
Women and men are differnet in some aspects, but both are equally as important and valuble.

jvagrl: Ok, you may have the wrong idea with the "FLINGING" concept! Lol! Think "control..." And yes, walking your dog ABSOLUTELY counts... how 'bout just stepping it up a little bit every other block? (Unless you're walking a chihuahua or toy poodle... in which case you might actually be dragging them behind you... not good.) Holly's workouts are fantastic for just about everyone (AND she's a great gal) - I have a whole section devoted to her at averagegoddess.com for just that reason! Happy flinging!... er, CONTROLLED flinging.

I love the workout. Looks simple enough for any NON-Experienced EXCERCISER could follow. I just wonder how "dangerous" flinging that little dumbell up and down. Looks like it wouldn't hurt so much, but I could just see someone(me) throwing my back out with that one. Enjoyed watching it anyway!
PS Doesn't walking my dog count as a workout!?

I am a married man. In fact, I am married to my second wife. The reason I have a second wife is that I did not fully appreciate the first one. I did ont commit adultery or anything like that, but I failed to appreciate what she provided to the household and the feelings she had. Unfortunately, she left me for someone else.

Now I have a wonderful wife and a very SUCCESSFUL marriage. I have found that my SUCCESS has greatly depended on her. I appreciate all that she does and it is a lot. The world we live in is still predominately a man's world both in the work place and at home. But for the men who appreciate their wives they are SUCCESSFUL and their wives are too. The truth is that SUCCESS IS SIMPLE when we understand it. I am currently writing a book about how WOMEN CAN BE SUCCESSFUL and researching this blog post has helped give me insight. I am the only male child for 4 generations on my mother's side of the family so I have learned quite a bit about women and the difficulties they have and the stress they carry. I am a firm believer that life should be SIMPLE and the SIMPLER we can make it with fewer complications, the more likely we are to achieve and feel SUCCESS. I believe am walking proof that SUCCESS IS SIMPLE and I owe a great deal of that to my beautiful and loving wife. Thank you for your comments above and I will be certain to keep this in mind as I finish the book.

I am a modern house wife and non-mother and love it.

Its not about what women do, it's about the ability to chose to do it. It is also true about men. In order to change human roles in society, one must be willing to sacrifice comfort to bring about change.

About the post, it sucks that women were treated so. But we have to live in the now. I have a 21 year old female friend who told me she feared a female president. I nearly slapped her. But then I went to my patient place and asked her why she thought that?

She said women are so emotional and irrational, they could blow up the world on a bad PMS day. I laughed and mentioned all the wars, violence and pain our heroic men leaders have lad us through. But I had to remember she had just gone through puberty. Fresh emotions.

I told her as you age experience and time help you manage those emotions and we look for that in our leaders. Mature, stability, whether they be male or female.

I don't know if that made her think, but it made me think, what are we teaching our young women?
